TikTok's Rivalry native app Mitron may have 50 lakh users affected, learn

Latest Tech News 2020

The Mitron app, which was launched as a short video making app last week, was downloaded by 50 lakh users on sight. It was heavily promoted as TikTok's Rivalry native short video making app. The Mitron app was also widely downloaded by the users due to the campaign being run by users against TikTok for the last several days due to it being a Chinese app. But there is a disclosure about this native short video making app Mitron in which it is revealed that it has a link to Pakistani app TicTic. There are also complaints of bugs in this app, due to which 50 lakh users can be affected.

In this disclosure, it has come out that if anyone can buy the source code of this app after spending $ 34 (about Rs. 2,500). According to media reports, 277 users have just purchased the source code of this app which is available on the CodeCayon platform. It has been revealed in these reports that the Mitron app is not a native short video making app but a clone version of the Pakistani app TicTic. As soon as the Mitron app was discussed in India, Pakistani developers QBoxus contacted Indian Reports via Twitter and claimed that the app has been developed using TicTic's source code, for $ 34 (about Rs. 2,571). Purchased from the CodeCrayon platform.

After this, many information security researchers examined the API and code of both the apps, and it was found that the APIs of both the apps are the same, which are being hosted from different servers. It is clear that Mitron, a native short video making app, has been developed using the source code of QBoxus. According to the team at QBoxus, their business model is to clone popular apps and make its source code available at a cheaper price. He also claimed to have cloned and sold 277 copies of TicTic's source code. In such a situation, it would be wrong to call Mitron an Indian short video making app.

Now the privacy of the users who use the Mitron app is also questionable. If you click on the privacy page of the Mitron app on the Google Play Store, it redirects you to a webpage where the privacy policy is written in an unprofessional manner. However, there has been no response from the developers of the Mitron app about the privacy of this app. Nor has he said anything about his app being linked to the Pakistani app.
